Dal sightseeing al lifeseeing. Il dialogo tra patrimonio architettonico ed effimero urbano nelle città del turismo culturale | From sightseeing to lifeseeing. The dialogue between architectural heritage and ephemeral urbanism in cities of cultural tourism

It was at the beginning of the twentieth century that the need to give a new authenticity and a new weight to tourist travel becomes evident, and for the first time what had become mere observation of pre-established images (sightseeing), is transformed into a research whose focus is no longer the mere sight, but the culture of the place visited and the way of life of a society within its own political and urban context: thus the practice of lifeseeing, as Enzensberger defines it, is born. Although it has distant origins and its evolutionary process has been far from linear, the phenomenon of lifeseeing finds deep and concrete consequences in the contemporary practice of tourism.

È agli inizi del XX secolo che si delinea la necessità di attribuire una nuova autenticità e un nuovo peso al viaggio turistico e per la prima volta quella che era diventata mera osservazione di immagini pre-imposte (il sightseeing), si trasforma in una ricerca il cui focus non è più la semplice vista, ma la cultura del luogo visitato e il modus vivendi di una società all’interno del proprio contesto politico e urbano: nasce così la pratica del lifeseeing, come lo definisce Enzensberger. Sebbene abbia origini lontane e il suo processo evolutivo sia stato tutt’altro che lineare, il fenomeno del lifeseeing riscontra nella pratica contemporanea del turismo profonde e concrete conseguenze.
